Following the two-year-hiatus because of the spread of Covid-19, the Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards (ASFAs) are returning for the 8th edition on Friday the 16th December at Kampala Serena Hotel and will broadcast live.
With an aim of acknowledging and celebrating African fashion stakeholders the 2022 ASFAs official categories were recently unveiled and been divided into 5 elements, reflecting the increase in satiety in the African fashion industry.
Below are the descriptions of each category’s five elements:
These are given in recognition of extraordinary accomplishments and exceptional contributions to the African fashion industry. A public vote does not determine honorary awards; instead, the ASFA Board is responsible for determining them.
The designer awards recognize excellence in the business of fashion design. It recognizes brands, companies, and individuals who have made significant contributions to the fashion industry. Public voting and internal deliberations determine the award winners.
These awards honor visionaries who foster business and public perception through innovative approaches to fashion, style, and design. The award winners are decided through public voting and internal deliberations by the ASFA Board.
The Music in Fashion award category focuses on the fashionable aspect of the music industry. The awards emphasize the role of fashion in music and celebrate those who have creatively merged both worlds. The award winners are decided through public voting and internal deliberations by the ASFA Board.

Meanwhile, before the awards ceremony, organisers will hold a 3-day Fashion Weekend aimed at reflecting on how the fashion industry has gone through many changes in the last years.
As team ASFAs, they have seen big brands with a lot of resources struggling to navigate this new normal, and thought how much harder can it be for local, small and medium enterprises, thus a need hold this Fashion Weekend that will take place from 11th to 13th of November at MOTIV in Kampala, starting from 9AM to 6PM.
