On Sunday afternoon, veteran Dj Alberto of Amsta Sounds lost his wife Sarah to cancer.
The news of her untimely death was circulated through social media platforms by Alberto’s friends and fans.
She breathed her last after being admitted in hospital a few days ago. According to her elder sister Anita Doris, a Ugandan based in the United States of America, Sarah had a brain tumor and was admitted to Kibuli Hospital, in Kampala.
“She’s my real sister and am saddened to hear about her death. RIP to my best friend,” She posted.
Dj Alberto has been in the Dj industry for more than 30 years.
He started his career as a casual laborer with Soul Disco sounds in 1987 while at Makerere College School and by 1988, he had mastered the art of mixing music with modern equipment.
His first gig was at Makerere University’s Guild Canteen, before he joined Club Ange Noir (now defunct) in 1991 at the age of 19.
In 2002, he joined Club Silk (now defunct) because he needed to change venue and also get chance to work for another company
After 12 years at club Silk, he crossed over to Ambiance Discotheque in Bakuli, Kampala where he played music for a year and in 2013, he left them to concentrate on Amsta Sounds, his private disco company.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences and a master’s degree in Business Administration
Through this job, he managed to build himself a house and also look after wife and his six children
Through savings, he managed to invest in entertainment industry in the field of sound engineering and he has been contributing to local TV shows as a DJ and presenter.
In 2016, he celebrated 28 years of being in the DJz box and organized a series of events to mark this achievement.
