Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao a few days ago confirmed that he will be fighting his next opponent on the 21, August 2021.
The boxing legend makes his return to the ring against International Boxing Federation (IBF) and World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr.
Errol Spence is a 31 year old American professional boxer who is currently a unified welter weight champion having held the International boxing Federation (IBF) title since 2017 and the world boxing champion (WBC) title since 2019.
As of 2021, Spence is ranked as the world’s third best active boxer, pound to pound by record and fourth by boxing writers Association of USA.
It will also be Spence’s first fight after suffering a horrible accident that left him on the shelf for almost a year.
Pacquiao, 42 announced the news of this fight on his official 2.6 million followers Twitter account. He shared a poster announcing the fight that is slated to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada at Allegiant Stadium
It will be the first time Pacquiao has fought since knocking down Keith Thurman in the first round and ended up winning via split decision to claim the WBA (super) welterweight title in 2019 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas,
Regarded by many boxing historians as one of the greatest professional boxers of all time, Pacquiao is the only boxer in history to win twelve major world titles in eight different divisions.
He is also the first boxer in history to win the lineal championship in five different weight divisions, as well as being the first boxer in history to win major world titles in four of the original eight weight divisions of boxing also known as the “glamour divisions” named fly weight, feather weight, light weight and welter weight
Pacquiao also holds the record of being the only boxer to hold world titles in four different decades, in the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s
