itemprop=”headline”>Diamond Platnumz Still Strong Even After Losing BET Award To Nigeria’s Burna Boy

Tanzania artiste Diamond Platmunz has not given up on winning the Black Entertainment Television (BET) awards in future.
According to statistics, he has not won any BET award since being nominated in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2021
Despite losing to Nigeria’s Burna Boy in the category of “Best International Act” in this year’s edition of the awards that was held at Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, California, USA, he urged his countrymen to continue supporting him until the day when he wins an award in these awards.
“I would like to thank my fans that supported me in this award campaign. I request you to continue with your support if nominated in future,” He said after he lost out again at the awards that took place in Los Angeles, USA on Sunday evening.
His category had Wizkid and Burna Boy from Nigeria, Youssoupha and Aya Nakamura from France, Emicida from Brazil and Headie One and Young T and Bugsey from United Kingdom.
Both Burna Boy and Diamond attended the event that took place at Microsoft Theatre.
Accepting the award, Burna Boy said he decided to collect the award himself because he knew he was going to win it and thanked his mother for being good to him
Before the awards ceremony, Tanzanians signed over 30,000 signatures petitioning the organisers of the awards to disqualify him from the competition.
The petitioners accused the ‘Waah’ hitmaker of using his stardom and his influence to publicly support Tanzania’s late president John Magufuli, who died in March.
Other reasons highlighted in the petition included his failure to show solidarity with his fellow Tanzanian artistes, including rappers Roma Mkatoliki and Nay Wa Mitego, who were arrested in 2017 for using music as a call to action against human rights abuses and authoritarian rule in the country.
