In a March 2019 interview with “World A Reggae”, a YouTube channel, deejay Chaka Demus, one half of the Chaka Demus and Pliers Dancehall duo from Jamaica, admitted that amongst the hundreds of places they have ever performed at, Uganda still remains his favourite.
The thousands of excited fans who stormed at the airport to welcome them and the way revellers at the concert sung to their songs word for word is something that will always remain in his memory about Uganda which he said is “a special place for him”.
Just like Chaka, it seems like Uganda turned out to also be Pliers’ favourite country to perform in.
In a very recent interview with “Teach Dem” which is YouTube channel based in Jamaica, the 58-year-old singer was asked to mention his favourite country to ever perform in and his reply was Uganda, the second being Brazil.
Pliers real Everton Bonner who is Reggae singer Richie Spice’s elder brother disclosed that they (as a duo) have performed in many countries in the world and a few African countries but Uganda still remains his favourite too.

Chaka Demus and Pliers who are considered to be biggest duo in the history of Dancehall music and Jamaican music at large performed in Kampala, Uganda for the first time in 1997
It is the good energy and reception that revellers at the concert showed them that in the many yeas of their music career, Uganda has been and will always be the word on the their lips when they are asked to mention their favourite place to ever perform at.
