Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, lawyer and Opposition’s Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister Muwada Nkunyingi claims to have found where controversial blogger Fred Kajubi commonly known as Lumbuye is detained.
According to his research findings, Lumbuye is being detained Kocaeli Valiligi Foreigners’ Detention Centre in Turkey.
In a social media post on his official Facebook page, Muwada revealed they are doing their best to see that he is released and transferred to another country that will accommodate him as a refugee.
“We finally found Lumbuye Kajubi Fred. Together with the new Turkey lawyer Adnan Sahin, we visited Lumbuye today at Kocaeli Valiligi Foreigners Detention Centre,” Reads the post in part.
Muwada also said that despite the detention, Lumbuye is well and is likely to be detained for six months before being deported back to Uganda.
“He is alive and quite well though bored being in one place. He claim they had told him that he will stay in detention centre for 6 Months. His wish is to secure his Freedom and possibly relocate to another Country but not Uganda. The other details are reserved for now,” he explained
The Member of Parliament continued to say that Lumbuye who before his arrest has been based in Istanbul, Turkey thanked everyone for caring for his safety. He is not allowed to speak on phone, write nor take photos.
“He has thanked you all for caring for his safety. Unfortunately he is not allowed to speak on phone, write or take photos. The reason they gave is because his detention is monitored by Turkish Government. But they guided us through the lawyers on how to process the details of his wishes,” he added.
Meanwhile, Lumbuye was arrested last month in Turkey over a raft of offences where he has allegedly been using social media to spread false news and cause acrimony.
