Ugandan political and human rights activist Kizza Besigye and his wife Winnie Byanyima, the current Executive Director of UNAIDS are celebrating their son Anselm Besigye who completed his undergraduate studies at the prestigious Harvard University, USA.
Anselm graduated among the Harvard Class of 2021 from the faculty of Arts, with a major in Anthropology and this was all at the virtual ceremony that took place on Thursday because of need to control the spread of Covid19.
Delighted Besigye shared the news of his official Facebook and Twitter accounts and also applauded Anselm’s hard work that saw him graduate with distinction.
As if that isn’t enough, his thesis was among the 2021 Thomas Temple Hoopes Prize Winners for “excellent undergraduate work and excellence in the art of teaching”.
This Thomas Temple Hoopes Prize recognizes both, the student and their professor, meaning that Besigye and Winnie only son’s thesis will remain in Harvard library for future research. He also got a US Dollars 5,000 (17,730,000) cash prize on top of that.

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) founder also disclosed that their son’s hard work relived them from most of the cost of his high school and university education because he was able to win scholarships that saw him go through the best education institutions.
He also didn’t forget to hail Anselm’s mother who took most of the responsibility of raising him, as he was mainly entrapped in what he describes as the ongoing liberation struggle of Uganda.
