The restoration of Ukraine is a moral obligation of Europe, said the head of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen. Her words, spoken during a speech at the MAXXI Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome, are quoted by the Italian agency ANSA.
Von der Leyen said that she had planned “a discussion with the mayor of Mariupol and with Ukrainian architects”, as European countries will “restore Ukraine.” “We must do it, and we will do it,” & mdash; she said, adding, “It's our moral duty.”
Von der Leyen performed at the opening of the international festival New European Bauhaus, and before that— at the opening of the conference “Reconstruction of the future for people and the planet— new European bauhaus initiative organized by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences.

At the end of May, von der Leyen said at a press conference that the leaders of the European Union held intensive negotiations on the restoration of Ukraine, but this process is directly related to the reforms carried out by the Ukrainian authorities.
According to her, we are talking about reforms of the system administration and the judiciary, as well as the fight against corruption, in order to create a “positive environment” for business. She also added that the EU is working on a mechanism for providing Ukraine with an emergency package of macro-financial assistance in the amount of €9 billion
Following the meeting, it was decided to consider the creation of a platform for the restoration of Ukraine, which will unite the authorities of the country, the EU, the European Investment Bank, international partners, financial institutions and other “stakeholders”, according to the website of the European Council.
According to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, $600 billion will be needed to restore Ukraine.
