The death of the Queen Great Britain Elizabeth II came as a shock to the nation and the whole world, said Prime Minister Liz Truss, speaking near her residence at 10 Downing Street.
The Prime Minister called Elizabeth II “the stone on which the modern Britain”, and stated that during her reign the country prospered.
Elizabeth II died on the evening of September 8 in the Scottish castle of Balmoral at the age of 96 years. Shortly before her death, doctors reported a deterioration in the queen's condition, after which relatives began to arrive at the residence.
In the UK and the Commonwealth countries, after the death of the monarch, in accordance with the protocol, ten days of mourning began. Flags were lowered across the country and major sporting events were cancelled.
The new king was 74-year-old Charles, named Charles III. In a statement, he called the day of his mother's death “the moment of greatest sadness.” for him and all family members.
“I know that her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the kingdoms, the commonwealth, and countless people throughout the world,” said Charles III.
